Who Will Survive?

Disco Week...always works for a few, but not the whole group. However, we've only seen a few performances in the past Idol seasons where a contestant took a song from that era and twisted it into their own (ie. Chris Daughtry, David Cook). Overall, it's harder and harder to choose bad performances when you don't have A) horrible performances to choose from and B) a lot of bad singers left.

THE TOP 7

Kris Allen
She Works Hard for the Money
I love the funkiness of his take on this song! I think Kris is getting better with each performance. He knows what he's good at and he knows how to deliver it. I think he may end up surprising us.

Adam Lambert
If I Can't Have You
Just my honest opinion, I didn't really like this song, but he did a really good job on the vocals as usual. It sounded emotional and almost like he was singing to someone who broke his heart. Very good.

Danny Gokey
September
Really strong vocals...I like that it was an upbeat song. This was a good performance from him for sure. Not really one of my favorites, but still worked for him.

Allison Iraheta
Hot Stuff
Tooooo slooooooow and I agree with the judges; not a good arrangement. It almost reminds me of Vanilla Ninja. I think she could have done some better things with this song. And I don't think it showed her off very well. She's my #2 pick for my bottom 3.

Matt Giraud
Staying Alive
This is a HARD song to sing, but I think Matt pulled it off. Sounding Justin Timberlake-esque once more, I think he's extremely lucky that he got saved last week. I liked it a lot. He did a lot of fun things with this song. BUT, he's going to have to be my alternate for this week.

Lil Rounds
I'm Every Woman
I think she did an okay job, but in the middle it started to get weird with her oohs...sounded really pitchy. I just don't think she's found her niche yet. She's my #1 pick for my bottom 3.

Anoop Desai
Dim All the Lights
Hmm...I'm torn on this song. I think he sounded okay, but it just didn't sound right. Maybe it was the arrangement or the song itself, but I had a hard time liking this one. He's my #3 pick for my bottom 3.

BOTTOM 3
Lil Rounds
Allison Iraheta
Anoop Desai

ALTERNATE
Matt Giraud

So, remember, since they saved Matt last week, two people are going home tomorrow!
Who will it be???

  1. Disco week was better than I thought it would be. I did not like the arrangement on Allison's song, but her tradmark voice stood out. We will be seeing more of her in the future. Kris did a great arrangement great vocals, and he is so cute! Love Danny, but the arrangement was off the mark. Anoop is doing a good job defining himself for his singing carreer after AI. Adam's song as usual could be recorded today. I LOVED his flawless vocals and the sensitive and vulnerable arrangement. He has some talented friends helping him I think. He took an old song and made it new. Bravo! Lil has gone as far as she can--weekly weak performances with pitchy vocals and the same old arrangements. She has benifited from the show wherever she goes from here. I liked her with long hair! I like Matt but his arrangement and performance won't keep him from going home this week.

  2. I actually think Lil is going to be okay this round. The voters are probably annoyed with how the judges are treating her. It's like the poor woman can't win. They don't EVER like the direction she is going, but if she changes her direction, they tell her she's trying to be something she's not. It's unfair to give her such a hard time. I think America gets that. She's gotten this far despite the criticism...

Adam is safe, and I'm willing to bet Danny is safe too, even though Danny sounds like a band director on a cruise ship.

I believe Alison will be going home this week. She doesn't have a lot of fans (even though I like her) and I think she is starting to look a little boring. We know she will sing a song with a raspy, rocked-out, pitch-perfect voice. Nothing new with her.

Matt is also in danger. I don't think the public likes that their vote didn't count last week. They will not vote him back. He wasn't worth the save.

I love Anoop, but he doesn't stand a chance to win. He will be out, if not this week, then next.

And I hate to say it, but I don't think Kris is all that safe. He's a cute kid, but really not all that great of a singer. And teens are voting for Anoop or Adam, while the cougars are voting for Danny or Adam.

Bottom 2 will probably be Alison and Matt, but I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them (except Adam) in there)
